BX-240 Hard-Top Design

Updated: Jul 9, 2023

Here is how we made our Hard-top better.

Firstly we wanted a solid structure with absolutely no rattles or flex. To achieve this we made use of 4 attachment points on either end of the top.

And then braced it with a ladder at the back and an 8mm toughened glass windscreen at the front.

The box structure to which the supports are attached is reinforced so that everything is tied together forming one solid unit.

To save deck space we made use of 20mm aluminum plate and recessed it into the consoles. This is a great feature as you now hardly notice the Hard-top. Standard supports made of round tubing, protrude into your space and are very prevalent on the deck.

Another advantage here is that the supports are not bolted to the deck, a deck connection leaves a hard to clean area that results in corrosion in a place that you don't need it.

The bottom box structure allows for lighting, sound and the running of wiring- nothing worse than cables routed all over your Hard-top.

To get a completely clean look we incorporated conduit into our ladder design.

The bottom box also makes space for life-jacket storage. This is very handy for keeping jackets and other articles of clothing dry.

Here you can also see the strip lights that are integrated into the bottom box.

The design of the supports provides multiple places to hold onto, so you will always find one in just the right spot. We also added a few extra grab-rails on the top. These are through bolted to the rough racks above, adding a lot of extra strength.

Roof racks are a great addition to a Hard-top, we are sure you will be seeing more of these in future. We designed ours to be able to accept different attachments. So you could also bolt on a crows nest or a sun lounger . Below are the carrier bars.

To enable the clean attachment of radar, rod holders and the likes we added some raised boxes on the top and gave everything a bit of style.

As a final touch we added a sturdy tow post that is through bolted and firmly attached to the support structure

For added versatility we provided some sleeve nut studs on the rear supports. This makes it easy add any number of attachments, like rod holders, cup holders, bait and tackle holders- anything that you need.

Our Hard-top is fully infused, with foam core and solid laminate in high stress areas. We use 316 Stainless Steel hardware and brackets . The supports are CNC cut from 20mm 5083 Aluminum Plate(marine grade). This is exceptionally strong and corrosion resistant. But just to be sure and give a great look,we have it anodized.

I probably forgot to mention a few features but that's about most of them!
